When the gypsy fortuneteller told Flossie Bobbsey that she and her twin sister and brothers were going to have a wonderful surprise and would spend a lot of time crossing water, the twins tried to guess what the surprise would be. But even in their wildest guesses, they never hit upon a ferryboat - a real little ferryboat that belonged to Mr. Bobbsey's friend, Homer Wiggins. Since he no longer needed it, he gave it to the Bobbsey twins. What fun they had painting the deck and organizing excursions to the island.
