Fascinated from childhood by tales of ancient Polynesians navigational feats, David Lewis was determined to learn these age old skills himself.
The Voyaging Stars tells of his many expeditions across the Pacific and his experiences in sailing without instruments. He learnt to read the meaning of the ocean swells and wave patterns, to steer by the path of the stars and sun and to interpret the messages so clearly spelt out in cloud formations and the presence of sea birds.
