In 1939 thirteen year old Poppy Brown was evacuated to a village in Dorset.She arrived with a change of clothing and her gas mask.Billeted on a grand country house she received nothing but cold indifference from above and below stairs.Lonely and missing her family she was devastated to hear that they had bee killed in the blitz.
She moved into the suburbs and was soon old enough to work as a hospital cleaner.She longed to do her duty and as soon as she was old enough started to train as a nurse.
As the man she loved was fighting in the skies above Europe she battled to survive the day to day hardships of wartime,wondering if she would ever see him again.
