Feisty and smart, twelve-year-old Elvina (who is= also the granddaughter of the great rabbi, Rashi) adores reading, writing, and studying like the boys. She is also skilled in the art of healing, a talent that ultimately gets her into trouble. As the Crusades gain momentum by aiming to rid France of its Jews, Elvina and her family know that danger is drawing near. One night, while alone in the house, Elvina must decide if she should save the life of a young, wounded Crusader. Doing so will put her family and the community at great risk. Can her guardian angel guide her and keep her safe? This story of compassion and tolerance speaks clearly to readers of all faiths.
