Leibniz was one of the greatest philosophers of the West, as well as one of the foremost mathematicians of his time and, in fact, the greatest polymath in history. Discourse on Metaphysics contains a translation of three works by Leibniz, "Discourse on Metaphysics", "A New System of the Nature of Beings" and "Monads". In these works, Leibniz concisely presents his ideas about the nature of reality, possibility and necessity, the interaction of matter and spirit, and the position of God in relation to creation.
