Ross Munro, Canadian Press correspondent with the Canadian forces in Erupoe, travelled with the Canadian Army wherever it went. In Gauntlet to Overlord he has written the first full account of the First Canadian Army from it's formative days in England to the end of the war.
In his introduction to the book Munro says: "This is a book about Canadian soldiers—from Spitsbergen to Dieppe, from Sicily and Italy to Normandy and Germany . . . I have tried to relate in narrative of the events the story of their achievements, their ordeals, their sacrafices and their boundless courage along the tortured paths to our victory." The book is dedicated to these men with whom he shared danger and who assisted him in gathering the news.
