My Friend Flika:

Although it worries the McLaughlins that the colt is so different from their others in appearance, it becomes clear as Thunderhead grows that he possesses unusual capacities of strength, speed, and intelligence. On these abilities Ken puts his hopes and dreams, as do the rest of his family in time.
